How happening can a month get? The month itself began with us hosting the Revenue Day celebrations for the whole district, ie on August 1st. Thanks to the Collector Nanded, who always try to do different things, we got the opportunity to host the annual Revenue Day at Kinwat Tahsil & subdivision. Generally the Revenue Day is celebrated at District Headquarters. The Revenue Day, marking the beginning of a new revenue year for the revenue department (ie the land revenue department, not to be confused with income tax, GST ones), is a day when all the revenue officers from Tahsildars, Dy Collectors, Collector and all the members of the different revenue associations come together to celebrate it, felicitate the model employees and their children who have done well in exams. The Revenue Day was hosted at one Eklavya Model Residential School at situated at scenic Sahastrakund. The Sahastrakund waterfalls attract is a popular tourist destination in the district.

Then on August 9th, both my birthday and the World Indigenous Tribal day coincided. Coming out of the COVID-19 lockdown, we celebrated this day with great pomp. Morning began with a rally from ITDP office towards Birsa Munda chowk in Kinwat city. Staff, students and others took part in the rally, with students holding the tri-color flag. After garlanding the Birsa Munda statue, we all left for the venue where rest of the day’s events were held. To mark the tribal day, we had invited Tribal Society leaders, social workers, public, meritorious tribal students etc. After felicitating the meritorious students and social workers, the culturals started. Traditional tribal dance groups from different parts of the district participated with great enthusiasm. They had come full prepared with costumes, props, some with live props. The performances stood out. The crowd cheered, danced and had great time. Lunch was arranged. Some 3000 odd people had delicious lunch.

Then from August 13th to 15th, there was Har Ghar tiranga celebrations. A stand out feature of this celebration in Kinwat, was the hoisting of flag by one Kolam tribeswoman in her hamlet in the presence of Collector, MLA and all the other officers. The said hamlet , being the remotest one in the district, is situated in Kinwat Tahsil, adjoining Adilabad district of Telangana. The hamlet was some 180KMs from the district headquarters. It was a great moment to witness. Celebrating 75th year of Independence and being witness to such a moment was very special to me.

The August 15th happened.
August 18 we celebrated Janmashtami in simple manner at home.
Then we had inauguration of the newly renovated ITDP Office. The office was very much due for renovation. The interior design of the office was done by me mostly. Took help of IKEA online design tool to design the rooms. We got the furniture from IKEA itself. The alignment of tables, chairs and staff sitting position was changed completely. Other things like how the visitors enter the office, drop the letters, collect the various forms was also changed. The PO chamber was the highlight, with the gorgeous wall painting. The painting took two weeks to complete.

Then on August 29th, on the occasion of the completing second anniversary as Assistant Collector and Project Officer Kinwat, we had a get together dinner. It was a fun event, where everyone enjoyed themselves. People sang, danced, did mimicry, made jokes. The dinner was exceptional.
We also got confirmation for the second round of recruitment drive for the posts of Junior Technician in the TATA Electronics Pvt Ltd Hosur. The first round conducted last December was a success. fifty girls out of 150 odd selected girls, out of 600 girls who turned up for the drive are already working as Junior Technician in TATA Electronics Hosur. So we were in touch with TATA for conducting further rounds of recruitment. After some pursuing for several months, we did it again for the second time. This time 400 off girls were selected and on the coming monday they will be travelling to Bangalore for building their lives.
On the office front, we issued a advertisement for receiving applications for restoration of tribal land in Kinwat. We were pleasantly surprised with the kind of response we got. It remains a major piece of work to be done.
Overall, the August month we very much happening and brought lot of joy and satisfaction – a reminiscent of the kind of things to look for in the next posting- where the canvas, stage and opportunities will be much bigger.
Commendable. Keep up the good work.
